Wish-Bone and Weight = Win/Win

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Wish-Bone.

BlogHer has great review programs, and when I found out Wish-Bone was offering bloggers a chance to use their dressings and new recipe website, I was all over it.  Most of you are probably sick to death of hearing me talk about my weight loss endeavors, but I’m going to talk about it - and this time, if you listen, you might be lucky enough to win a $100 grocery gift card AND a Wish-Bone gift pack valued at over $45.

I’ll be honest - prior to this review, I associated Wish-Bone with salad dressing. Period.  This means my imagination was limited to what boring greens would be adorned with my dressing of choice.  Imagine my surprise when last week, I got a huge box from the folks at Wish-Bone, filled with these goodies:

image

After flipping through the recipe book, I had an epiphany. Perhaps thinking of dressings as merely topping for salad was a bit, well, short-sighted.  I immediately went to the Wish-Bone site to check out more of the recipes offered online.  Fortunately, many of the recipes are low-fat and low-calorie and fit perfectly with my Weight Watchers plan.  The website even allows you to filter the recipes based on ingredients or things like “Smart Choices” for those of us, a-hem, watching our waistlines.

I get so bored with the usual recipes I make, toned down in the fat and calorie department.  I was inordinately excited when I realized I had a ton of new recipes to try, and they actually sounded GOOD even though they were healthy.  My problem was narrowing the recipes down to three.

The first one I tried was the Asian Grilled Steak.  First, a note about my husband.  Any recipe with the word “Asian” in it immediately sends him running for McDonald’s, but slowly I’ve been working on him.  He’s actually, dare I say it?  starting to ENJOY certain recipes with the word “Asian” in them.  I’m using Wish-Bone’s pictures since theirs are so much prettier than my presentation, and my kids currently hate everything I cook for them and spent their dinner time grilling me (pun intended) about every ingredient in the recipe.

The verdict? De-licious.  Best of all, prep time is 5 minutes.  Let me repeat that. FIVE MINUTES.  I made the marinade the night before we served it, and let it sit overnight.  The recipe states that you marinate it for 5 hours, but in my world, more is always better. The meat was tender and juicy, and I had no guilt because I used the low-fat Italian dressing.  The girls, of course, turned their noses up, but don’t be offended, Wish-Bone people.  If it isn’t macaroni and cheese or chicken nuggets, all food is dead to them.

Then, because I was dying to try the light Asian Sesame Ginger dressing, I made the Asian Chicken Sesame Salad.  Mike said no thanks to this one, but I give it two thumbs up (and a toe).  Again, the prep was easy - 20 minutes - and the total Weight Watchers points for a good-sized serving is a mere 6!  Wa-hooooo!

Finally, I tried something I knew Mike would love, and the girls would possibly tolerate.  I made the Fajita Chicken Salad.  I knew the girls wouldn’t eat the lettucey, green bits, but the chicken sounded delicious.  Lo and behold, they actually ate some of it - and Mike and I ate the rest!
image

I loved how easy everything was to prepare, and how tasty they all were.  Best of all, many of the recipes fit with my healthy eating plan.  I’ve been craving food that has taste, and the three recipes I chose were all winners and have been added to my favorites.  Next up is the Chicken Satay with Spicy Peanut Sauce - can’t wait!

Now for the good stuff - the part that involves YOU.  Not only do you have a chance to win here, but there are 10 chances total to win!

hello. i’m sure this is common but it’s the most simple thing in the world for outstanding chicken. simply empty a bottle of wishbone italian in a large bowl, submerge your chicken (or use a big ziploc baggie), let it soak for a couple of hours and throw on the grill. excellent.

I think I would give the Satay with Peanut Sauce a try. With tofu or seitan instead of chicken though.

Count me in! I already use Wish Bone as a marinade for chicken and steak. It’s delish! That satay with peanut sauce sounds yummy; I may have to give that a try! And being a WW follower, this all fits nicely into the points system.

I would definitely start bring more salads with chicken and/or shrimp which have been marinated in your dressings….the Satay with Peanut sauce sounds yummy!

We use Wish Bone on all our salads.  We quite often add in cooked chicken slices or steak slices into our salads, thereby making a full meal out of the salad.  The wish bone dressing makes everything extra delicious.

Wish Bone Italian dressing on salads like tuna, pasta, every egg to give it a nice taste.

On fresh fruit, it give a contrast.

When added to soups, it saves on buying other spices and not being sure what does go together.

I also like to spritzs on bread then toasted.

I am on the weight loss quest too.

I already use Wish Bone dressings for a couple of things.

For one, I substitute the reduced fat ranch or Italian dressing for mayo in my tuna salad.

I also use the dressings for marinading meat and potatoes. This allows me to use little or no added oil in the cooking process.

Lastly, I use the dressing as a substitute for mayo on my bread when I have a turkey or ham sandwhich.

Good luck!

There are many ways that I use WishBone dressings in my cooking, but here are two of my favorites. I take leftover cold brown rice, chopped cilantro or scallions, cold leftover veggies (like broccoli or spinach), and a sprinkle of chopped nuts (like pecans), and I mix it all up with WishBone Italian (but any of their flavors would work)—-makes a great lunch. I also love to marinate tofu sticks in WishBone Italian, and then bake. I then chill them and snack on them when I am hungry—yum!

I don’t really like to cook, but using Wishbone as a marinade (especially for chicken, since it really is better with some added flavoring) is so easy to do.  I sometimes like to try new recipes, so maybe I should do a little research on some of these other recipes.  But the main thing I use Wishbone for is salads.

Summer usually brings a desire for lighter fare with the heat and humidity! I use salad to marinate my meats and fish, and of course on a dressing on a summer salad!

.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)  on  05/24  at  04:38 AM

I mix 1 cup of their lite or low-fat Ranch dressing with 1/4 cup of grated Parmesean, 2 cups of leftover grilled or boiled chicken (diced or chopped into 1/2 inch or smaller pieces), and 4-5 cups of shredded romaine lettuce and I get the worlds most fabulous tasting, healthy chicken caesar salad in MINUTES.

This is really important to me because I work a full time job and so does my hubby, so by the time I get home it’s around 5:30 p.m. and I have a starving hubby coming home at 6:00 p.m. and two starved kids waiting for me. It’s nice to be able to cook up great tasting, healthy meals thanks to delicious dressings like this.

Pear & Blue Cheese Salad

This is one of my favorite salads!  I was excited to find a recipe for it on the website.  Incorporating fresh fruit and vegetables into my diet is something I try to do as much as I possibly can.  Not only for weight management but for anti-aging and health reasons.

Thank you WishBone for so many great products and an amazing website.

Did you know Wish-Bone dressing is low carbs? I am a type one diabetic that struggles with what I can and can not eat however I know I can use Wish-Bone dressing for most of my meals and I do! I cook my chicken breast in the Ranch as it has only 2g of carbs and it taste great!!  I also soak my breast in the italian dressing which is also low carbs and it gives the chicken a nice tang. I was so excited to see this sweep as I DO use this dressing 5 or 7 days a week. I would love to win this!

Being a diabetic I used to get so upset that others could eat most of what they wanted. Their food not only looked better then mine but tasted better then mine. Not anymore!! I can’t tell you how excited I was the first time my husband used the dressing to give my bland chicken breast taste. I can now eat a hamburger( no bread) and use the dressing to give it good taste. Thank you again for the contest.

I also like to make vegetable pasta salads and toss in my favorite Wishbone Italian dressing. Save money on this healthy taste treat: Find the cheapest cut of beef possible- look for “quicksale” meat:
Place in small casserole dish, pour Wishbone Balsamic italian dressing over meat, add enough cider vinegar to submerge meat entirely, chill overnight, in the morning, add 1 large chopped onion and 1 tsp black pepper. Chill a second night. Third day, poke meat, pour in some booze ( any beer or wine), chill over night. On fourth morning, The meat is Saurbrauton. Pour off liquid, bake in slow cooker/crockpot on low all day while you’re at work. Meat will be fork tender. Serve with a good Rye Sourdough bread, a glass of cider and prehaps some baked apples as a side dish

I then refrigerate them and eat them as snacks, or cube them and toss them with cooked brown rice, scallions, amd more dressing—yum! It is healthy, lowfat, and filling!

We already incorporate Wish-Bone dressings in our quest for a healthier diet, but are just beginning to expand beyond the salads and marinades. For example, I recently prepared chicken breasts in the crock pot using Wish-Bone Romano Basil Vinaigrette - it’s a method I refer to as marinade-WHILE-you-cook. And when my wife takes MY cooking to have for lunch at work, something good is happening! smile

We use Wishbone salad dressings (especially the various oil / vinegar based varieties) as marinades for our almost daily “cooked on the grill” summer food preparation; Wishbone is better than sweet BBQ sauces full of calorie laden sugars, and a marinated piece of chicken or beef, or vegetables will not burn so readily as a sweetened sauce….so it’s going to be marinated, grilled beef / chicken and vegetables for us this summer, just the way our family likes it !!!

I would incorporate Wish-Bone dressings in my quest for a healthier me by making my own salad diet. I think it’d be a good thing to try for a few weeks, a good breakfast, and then rotate different types of salads for lunch and dinner, with Wish-Bone dressing on the side of course!

We use the Italian for marinades on meat.  I will have to try the other type of Italians now.

I need to eat more veggies so using the spritzers would be a way to flavor without a lot of calories!
Thanks

I use wishbone salad dressing in my salads and I also love to use it on my grilled chicken. It gives it a wonderful flavor but less calories.

I like to marinate chicken in Fat Free Red Wine Vinaigrette and then bake it.  It tastes great and is very low fat!

I’ve frequently used Wishbone for marinating, or for making pasta salad…my teenage son’s favorite item!  But I’ve never really used it in sauces and would like to get adventurous that way.  It was interesting to see they use the ITALIAN drsg in the Chicken satay recipe.  I would have assumed it was the asian drsg.  Can’t wait to try some of these!  Thanks.

We use Wish Bone as dressings, marinades for meats and veggies for grilling and baking (especially Italian).  I also mix a dab of creamy dressing with a dab of mayo for a zesty sandwhich condiment.

One of our favorites is spaghetti salad. Simply cook a package of spaghetti and drain it. Add diced or cherry tomatoes, sliced ripe olives, diced celery, grated carrots, or any other veggie you choose.  I usually add leftover cooked chicken or pork, but beef, ham or even tuna can be used.
Add Schilling Salad Supreme Seasoning to taste (or any other similar seasoning).  I usually end up using a whole bottle.
Add Wishbone Italian Salad Dressing to taste.
Every time I make it I seem to end up with something different but it’s always good.

I often use Wishbone dressings in my potato salad instead of mayonnaise.  It’s also a great marinade for any meat.

Specialists argue that personal loans help a lot of people to live the way they want, just because they are able to feel free to buy necessary stuff. Furthermore, different banks give collateral loan for different persons.

Some time before, I really needed to buy a car for my corporation but I did not have enough money and couldn’t purchase anything. Thank goodness my sister adviced to try to take the business loans from reliable creditors. Thence, I did so and was happy with my student loan.

I received 1 st home loans when I was not very old and this helped me a lot. However, I need the collateral loan over again.

Some specialists claim that mortgage loans aid people to live the way they want, because they are able to feel free to buy needed stuff. Moreover, a lot of banks offer commercial loan for different classes of people.

Some time ago, I really needed to buy a good car for my corporation but I did not earn enough cash and couldn’t purchase anything. Thank God my fellow adviced to get the loan from trustworthy creditors. So, I did so and was happy with my small business loan.

I don’t intend to copy your web site, but I really just like the theme. Might you touch upon which template you are using or is this custom designed?
