I recently heard from my very old friend Philip (well, he’s not old, but I knew him long, long ago). He’s living in Traverse City helping his mom grow her weaving business, and managed to score a picture and mention of Krys’s business in the NY Times. Here’s a link to the slideshow so you can see for yourself (click the forward arrows to view the different pictures). Krys’s rugs are in there with some big names.
I told Philip that the rug Krys gave me, way back in 1992, was still alive and kicking. Unfortunately I didn’t really learn how to wash things until about the last 2 years, so I beat the heck out of it by washing it with things I shouldn’t have, so it’s only a pale shade of the beautiful colors it once was. But the point is, I still have a nice rug, 14 years later. Philip told me that she’s now doing something with them differently, something having to do with weird words like warp and weft, but it meant nothing to the ignorant non-weaving person that I am.
So if your floors are feeling chilly, or you need some beautiful colors in your house, check out the rugs. And never wash them with bleach.
