Overdue updates.

I don’t blog for a week, then I blog twice in one day.  I’m sending my camera in for repair, since Thora knocked it off the counter and the flash no longer works.  In order to prepare for a camera-less couple of weeks, I’m posting the latest batch of pictures:

In this batch, our quick trip to Virginia Beach and some shots from Sophia’s birthday party (she’s 4!!!).  You can see when the flash broke as those pictures are pretty dark.

Now I’m off to find either Xanax or wine.  Or both.

Pictures . . .so far.

I have many stories to tell, but no time.  Pictures first.

Snow Day Part Deux.

We’re on Day Two of no school, so blogging is not a high priority right now.  Sanity is.  I’ve posted more pictures to the March set.  You can see the snowy fun below.

On a side note, there was a three-car accident at Nuckols near Twin Hickory this morning. The girls and I were at Starbucks when it happened right outside the window, and we were all greeted by two people screaming obscenities at each other. Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Asheville, NC

I’m wiped out so here’s a basic rundown of the weekend:

a.)  Cristin still wants kids after being with Lily and Arden for two days. She ran them around, swam with them, took them to the Children’s Museum, and generally catered to their whims.  They nearly burst into tears when we picked them up - they would have stayed forever.

b.)  We had our first “vacation” away from the girls in three years.  Sad, but very true.  So it was heavenly, not to mention the mountains near Asheville are one of my favorite places in the world.  Whenever I am there, I feel like I’m home, which is stupid because I was born and raised in Michigan.  Whatever.  It’s the way I feel.  I even priced out houses for when Mike retires.  I like to plan ahead.

c.)  I couldn’t get into the spa, which is a bit sad, but my own fault for not booking in advance.  That being said, I got to spend some much needed quality time with Mike and we did lots of fun things, like walking, shopping, and looking at landscaping - something we are both geeked out about.  We even got to see a smattering of street performers, something Richmond doesn’t cater to, including one particularly freaked-out fiddler who moved like Lord of the Dance on X and played like Willie Nelson.  Awesome!

And some pictures:

Photo Challenge:  Summer

Since we’re not getting journal prompts on MM anymore, my friends and I are taking turns challenging each other to blog entries and photos.  Jae, being a devil, made me go first with the photo challenges, so of course I did a lame one.  No more lame than some of the prompts on MM (remember “American Idol”?  This was less lame - admit it!).

Summer for me is all about the pool.  It’s been that way since we haven’t had extra cash for “real” summer vacations.  I took this picture a couple of weeks ago - I love these trees and they give some shade near the deep end of the pool.  I know, I should have posted a picture of the girls AT the pool, but I’m always posting pictures of them.  And since I get to choose what picture goes into the photo challenge, that’s the way it is!
